Virdiss Inc. was incorporated in Toronto in 2019. What started as a single venture in cultural fashion became a group with two operating divisions and a clear idea of what it will and will not build.
How we got here
Virdiss Inc. incorporated
Founded in Toronto by Taru Johri, beginning with Favor Labs — selling saris directly to customers in Canada.
Selling became renting
The pattern was hard to miss: an outfit worn once for a wedding, then kept forever. MyEthnikRentals replaced the sale with a rental, and the business found its footing.
Virdapt founded
A second venture, in a different market and for a different reason — fair pay for the technical people who actually carry the work in Canadian contracting.
Two divisions, one group
Both operating independently, both held to the same standard.
Who runs it
Taru Johri
Taru founded Virdiss in 2019 and leads both divisions from Toronto. She started the group in cultural fashion and moved it into technology services for the same underlying reason: in both markets, the people doing the work were getting the worst of the deal.
What we hold ourselves to
Three principles, carried over to every venture in the group.
Clarity
Plain pricing, plain contracts, plain answers. If something has to be explained carefully to sound acceptable, it probably is not.
Responsibility
To the people we employ, the customers we serve, and the waste we create. Each division answers this question differently, and each has to answer it.
Long-term impact
We would rather build something that still makes sense in ten years than something that performs well this quarter.
